The patient care representative is responsible for a variety of responsibilities including, facilitating patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner, and scheduling/rescheduling patients. This position is the face and voice of Alabama Pain Physicians and requires patience, empathy, time management, and professionalism with patients, co-workers, and providers.

Alabama Pain Physicians is a comprehensive pain management practice committed to improving the quality of life of our patients. We utilize cutting edge technology and advanced procedures to establish an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan to ultimately minimize pain and increase function.

Job Responsibilities

  • Triaging phone calls
  • Verify patient information and confirming patient appointments
  • Respond to any questions or concerns patients may have professionally and respectfully
  • Check administrative and scheduling email
  • Recording correspondence in patient charts using EHR
  • Uploading files to our automated confirmation system
  • Performing medical record requests
  • Importing documents from front office and from fax portal system into patient charts
  • Scheduling patients for various types of appointments
  • Responsible for checking fax, phone/voicemails, and emails for referrals and then for the initial contact with the patient
  • Responsible for obtaining proper health insurance authorizations and information
  • Responsible for tracking referral sources and reporting these to supervisor/manager
  • Properly document all encounters with patient and referral sources
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; B.S. or B.A. preferred
  • 0-2 years work experience preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred
